The “Samaththuvam Kaanbom” (Let Us See Equality) Mass Public Awareness Campaign was successfully conducted in Vellore District from 29th January to 31st January 2026 with the primary objective of promoting social equality, constitutional values, human dignity, and social justice among students and the wider community.
The vision of Samathuvam Kaanbom was to cultivate a holistic legal and social ecosystem where the principles of equality, dignity, and social justice are not only studied as jurisprudence but are lived, practiced, debated, and internalized as a way of professional and personal life.
A State-Level Training Programme on the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar and Tribal Development Action Plan Act and Rules – 2024 was organized by the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, on 21 January 2026 at Hotel Radisson Blu, Egmore, Chennai. The programme was jointly coordinated by the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, and the Centre for Social Justice and Equity, Madras School of Social Work (MSSW), Chennai.
The “Samathuvam Kaanbom” (Let Us See Equality) Awareness Campaign was implemented across Kallakurichi District with the objective of fostering social equality, human dignity, constitutional values, and social justice among students of government schools and colleges. The campaign was organised by the Department of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with Social Justice and Human Rights Wing, TamilNadu Police Department, Kallakurichi District
“Samathuvam Kaanpom” (Let Us See Equality) programme was successfully inaugurated on 15.12.2025 at 10.00 a.m. at Morning Star College, Pasumpon. The event was organized by Department of Women Studies, Alagappa University, Karaikudi in association with the Center for Social Justice & Equity, Madras School of Social Work, with the support of the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with educational institutions, government departments, and social organizations.
The event commenced with a vibrant procession led by NSS and NCC students of Nandanam College, showcasing colorful folk arts performances. Participants carried placards highlighting key social issues such as caste inequality and gender-based violence, aiming to raise awareness and promote the campaign theme, “Samathuvam Kaanpom” (Let’s Ensure Equality).
The Centre for Social Justice and Equity (CSJE) of Madras School of Social Work was established with an annual grant from the Department of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu. As part of the centre’s programme activities, Centre organise various consultations, trainings and workshops for the different stakeholders. Aligning with the recommendations of the successive commissions and the policy endeavours of the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, the Centre for Social Justice and Equity at Madras School of Social Work undertakes a sustained public awareness campaign on ensuring equality among the people. Followed by the public awareness campaigns at Tirunelveli and Chennai, the has conducted a series of campaign activities at Madurai from 5th May to 7th May 2025.
The Centre for Social Justice and Equity (CSJE), Madras School of Social Work, in collaboration with the Department of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, organized a public awareness campaign on “சமத்துவம் காண்போம் – Let’s Ensure Equality” in the title of “சமத்துவத்தின் குரல்கள்” – “Voices of Equality” on 24th April 2025.
