Community Survey on ‘Panniandi Community’ in Thiruvannamalai District
“Panniandi” is the pig rearing community in Tamil Nadu. Their main occupation is the rearing of pigs. They have historically been discriminated based on their caste as well as occupation. Hence, the research tries to study their living condition and their vulnerabilities.
Inner Content: One way to get information from a specific target demographic to better understand a problem that affects them is through a community survey. In such way, the investigation on ‘Panniandi Community’ offer comprehensive information about the needs and experiences of the community. The researcher had chosen the survey participants from the intended audience in the survey. To understand the struggles in recognition of the community identity this survey on ‘Panniandi Community’ will give the data of their location, demographic details, cultural background and the issues they face with regard to their community identity. The survey has conducted at ‘Tiruvannamalai’ district of Tamil Nadu. Around 211 population has covered in 6 blocks namely, Tiruvannamalai, Kalasappakkam, Polur, Keel Pennathur, Thandarampattu, and Chengam during the month of Fe, 2024.
